I just needed to clear my head...

So things will be rather quiet for the next couple of months, but that doesn't mean it's time to slack off! With no conventions to be ready for until February/March there is plenty of time to get to work on big projects for next year.

Art-wise I'm seriously trying to get back into drawing more! I have a birthday dragon to make for :iconlmcgowan: which I will start on as soon as I get a description for it. Also have some other unfinished pieces lying around that I want to get done and posted on here. I am trying guys, really REALLY trying! I miss being able to sit back and just let go in a sketchbook, I can't motivate myself to do it anymore!

Moneywise, I'm starting to look for a new job. I've been at Dollarama now for two and a half years and I really need a change of pace! It's now time to start paying off some debts and getting them out of the way so I can start saving (or attempt to start saving) for going back to school next year and for conventions. I will be going on a road trip with a group of freinds next August to attend Dragon*con in Atlanta Georgia. I'm very excited!!

Cosplay-wise I have two very elaborate costumes to worry about. For Anime North 2010 :iconthe-mirror-melts: and I will be doing the new Final Fantasy 13 version of the Shiva Sisters. [link] That's right, we're going to be a motorcycle for AN! I'll be doing the white version. It's going to be a tedious, but extremely fun project and I'm really looking forward to start asap! Other costumes to get done include finishing Grace from Granado Espada [link] and then a few small cosplays including Heine from Dogs, Oz from Pandora Hearts and an original Steampunk version of Alice in Wonderland. Still holding on to Dragoon Dart as well, hopefully for August for Dragon*con, my first US con!

Also looking forward to doing some photoshoots with :iconashedelacroixe: while the beautiful fall scenery is in effect. That means I'll soon have some great pictures to post of some of my smaller costumes like Spyro, Girafarig and Angela!

With all this said, first on the to do list is Pandora Hearts and Dogs for Naru2U. If I can get Granado Espada done for that too it would be great, but she's no big rush until Ad Astra in March, I just don't want her to end up forgotten in the closet so I'll work on it in small doses. For G-Anime in Feb (my birthday con, yay!) I plan to wear my Helmet Girl again and finally enter it in the masquerade!

To anyone going to Naru2U next month, hope to see you there!

FanExpo 2009

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 4, 2009, 12:11 PM
*Friday*

Took the bus up early with :iconashedelacroixe: :iconrillwaterlady91: and Lunnie. When in Toronto, we headed straight for our Hotel, the Intercontinental. Turns out :iconthe-mirror-melts: booked us a beautiful, huge room with a complimentry breakfast buffet! Everyone was ready to go around 5pm, myself wearing Raphael, :iconthe-mirror-melts: in Talim, and the others as vampires (not the kind that sparkle). :P We headed straight for the con and thankfully didn't even need to wait in line for con passes, and then made a beeline for the dealers room/artist alley and did a fair bit of shopping. Afterwards we went out for Jack Astors and then decided we were too tired for the dance. A short lived day that had everyone passing out early. At least from what I can rememeber...

*Saturday*

Yay the debut of Donnie Darko's Frank! Didn't put him on until after having breakfast with :iconthe-mirror-melts: and registering for the masquerade. As usual it was a long wait in line, being taunted by people who already had coffee. >.< Finally got back to the room and helped :iconashedelacroixe: get into her Jo costume. Frank took only about 10 min to get into and I was already dying of heat before we left the room! We all got a bite to eat then browsed the dealers room again.

We attended James Duval's Q&A session.(For those that don't know, he played the real Frank in the movie!) As soon as we walked in the room he yelled "Frank! How are you?!" Hooray for taking the entire room by storm! :P After the session I approuched him to get a pic taken and also to get my mask autographed. He was corrected into calling me 'Frankette' after seeing who was under mask. There was no pen on hand so I had to go to his signing table later in the day to get in signed. I now have an epic Frank autographed mask! YAY!! It was an awesome experience to meet him, such a nice guy!

Following this event, :iconashedelacroixe: changed into her Donnie costume and we headed for the Masq. :iconthe-mirror-melts: had split off earlier to get her Spawn costume on and we met her again in the green room. Signed in, did sound check, got judging photo taken, sat down in our den....A few minutes later we ended up deciding we didn't want to compete anymore. :cries: Turns out someone else was also competing as Frank and his mask was a lot more elaborate. (But it's still not autographed, muahaha!) So instead we met up with Lunnie and went to play a Vampire: The Requiem LARP. I played my old Nosferatu character Hex. It was great that I was actually creepy since I had Frank on, lol! It was a lot of fun thanks to the other players who got us involved and put on some great scenes, but I definately still prefer the old Vampire: The Masquerade, specifically my awesome Ottawa by Night group! :D

Afterwards it was back to the hotel room for some partying. Met tons of awesome people and had a blast. To those of you that I met, if you're on DA, add me so I can do the same! ^.^

*Sunday*

Had to be my favourite day for one reason: Steampunk gathering! The turnout was amazing with around 30+ Steampunks showing up compared to last years 6! Minus the extremely painful shoes, it was a ton of fun walking around in a large group outside and freaking out the crowd of Jonus Brothers concert attendees. Lots of pictures were taken and also got a photoshoot alongside :iconashedelacroixe: and Lunnie with the amazing SolarTempest!
The rest of the day consisted of last minute shopping and relaxing. Once the con was over we explored downtown a bit and saw 'A Perfect Getaway'. I wasn't keen on seeing a movie, but it turned out being an awesome movie so it all worked out!

Overall, pretty awesome con, had lots of fun. Still regretting not entering the Masq, but hey, can't turn back now! Hoping to have some pics of Frank and Steampunk soon!

Until then,

IOU Features!

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 17, 2009, 6:51 PM

So a few journals ago I promised to feature a favourite deviation of the first bunch to comment. I said I would do the first 10, but I sadly only got 8, so I've added in two extras of my choice! Enjoy!

:iconashedelacroixe: [link] My sexy girlfriend can take some super epic shots when she puts her mind to it! The angle in this one is killer!

:iconbastion73: [link] Always quick with words and witty remarks, you put together some very clever, and slightly morbid poetry. :P

:iconstargazer-gemini: [link] Talk about mad painting skillz! I absolutely love the choice of colours and the amount of emotion portrayed in this.

:iconcaptain-ruby: [link] My favourite Velvet ever! The sewing work is so clean and the costume just downright lovely! Not to mention you look stunning in it!

:icontatsuhi: [link] I find these designs a very neat and creative idea for possible Pokemon cosplays!

:iconcult-clueless: [link] For one thing, I just love the shot in general, also you look so cute!

:iconthe-mirror-melts: [link] The Queen of epic props! This has to be one of my favourites. It could also be that I'm super excited for this costume! *wink*

:iconbug-off: [link] With a great comic-book type style all his own, I couldn't resist going for the cosplay humour!

:icongangyzgirl: [link] I did it again! LOL! Always been a fan of her stuff, especially her awesome WWE fanfiction!

And lastly but not leastly,

:iconwerekatt: [link] You do not wanna mess with this version of Jasmin! Totally creepy but it totally works. ;)

And that's all! Keep up the awesome work everyone!

~*Friday*~

Drove down, sleeping the entire way, since I hadn't slept for about 40+ hours straight, still with a few things left to do on my costumes. Thankfully my friend :iconthe-mirror-melts: helped me finish up my Angela by making almost the entire jacket for me. I love her for that!

Angela was my friday costume and was part of a Kuroshitsuji group with:
:iconashedelacroixe: as Sebastian
:iconserith-moren: as Ceil
:iconlord-amitai: as Undertaker and
:iconthe-mirror-melts: as Agni.

We showed up a bit late for the photoshoot, but still managed to get some good shots. Unfortunately there's no good solo pics of Angela so you'll all have to wait til I get personal photographer :iconashedelacroixe: to take some before you see it! The rest of the day involved dealer's room shopping and then a J-rave dance, which we only got to spend an hour at.

~*Saturday*~

A rather fast-paced day. Didn't get out of the hotel room til around 4pm due to having to finish a bunch of stuff on Raphael. >.< It was kinda stressful considering we needed to be in Green Room for 5 and I wanted to get a quick run through the dealer's room before going there. Luckily we ran into Sarcasm-hime, one of the judges, and she told me it was okay to show up a bit late and that gave me the chance to get in a quick browsing.

From there, the rest of the evening consisted of sitting in the Masquerade green room with my stage partner :iconthe-mirror-melts: in our Soul Calibur costumes waiting for our turn. We were near the very end: Entry 61 out of 73! Time went by rather quickly though, with judging, backstage photos and practicing our skit. We even managed to sneak out for a bit to get some pics of eachother. Finally our spotlight was on and we pulled off the skit almost according to plan, haha! Here it is: [link]

After that, it was off for pre-drinking and then dancing the night away once again! Somebody got trashed aswell....yeah, it was me. >.<

~*Sunday*~

First thing on the agenda was to go check out if we won anything in the masquerade. Turns out we were rather victorious, winning not only one, but TWO awards! Workmanship Best in Class - Artisan and Top Caliber Perfomance! It certainly made our final con day much brighter!

Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for the much awaited meeting with :iconcamilladerrico: in the Artist Alley. Myself, along with :iconashedelacroixe: and our friend Lunnie recently cosplayed as some of her beautiful Helmet Girls and she was excited to see them in person. I was cosplaying this one: [link] Turns out she loved them and signed each of them! It was a great time getting pictures with her and just getting to hang out with her. She's wonderful!

So that pretty much sums up the weekend. I'm wishing I could have had a bit more fun just wondering with friend's and checking out some of the panels or playing some games, unfortunately the weekend just flew by way too fast!

~*SHOUTOUTS!*~

:iconserith-moren::iconlord-amitai: Congrats on your hall awards for your awesome Star Ocean cosplays ladies, you totally deserved them!

:iconkai-kura::iconlaurentea: It was a treat to meet you both, I hope to hang out with you again at upcoming conventions!

And to all my other friend's I ran into at AN, it was great seeing you, all your costumes looked great! ^.^

Next stop: Otakuthon!

Well, Anime North is too freakin close. I've barely started my two costumes for it. I have Raphael to do, which I've sorta started, and Angela, which I haven't started. Wig is ordered for Angela and I was so happy to find the PERFECT one! I'm sure once it comes in I'll have more motivation. On the other hand, Raph isn't turning me on too much. I tried the vest and then got really discouraged when it didn't come out right, so for now I'm working on all that batty jewelry of his. Gaahh, I hate having to line stuff! Maybe I won't enter Artisan just yet...

I'm done venting now!

If you'll be at AN, see you there!!

~*Kudrel*~

PS: Ad Astra was amazing! Didn't enter the masquerade, but got many many compliments by many awesome people. Also got to hang out with Sarcasm-hime, my costuming idol!
